Infinity seascape/skyscape

Being out on the cliffs looking out to sea, is an exhilarating experience, and can be a bit of a scary one too.
I was looking at the amazing sunset that was ahead and I could feel my tummy being tied in knots. This was probably because I was standing 150 feet above the sea and standing on the edge of a very steep cliff. I’m not gonna lie, my knees were knocking a little.

It was so beautiful and poetic, where the sea and the sky kissed, with a shimmer of white across the horizon, blurring the distance into one big vista. You did not know when the sea stopped and the sky began.

I wanted to capture the beauty of the evening sky but also express the tranquillity yet foreboding feeling I had standing on the edge of the cliff. For vistas,
I often choose a Landscape orientated canvas for this kind of painting, but this time I wanted to viewer to feel the constraint that I felt when on the edge of the cliff. So I used a smaller square canvas to help achieve this as you have no room to move around the painting with your eyes.
I have also used a smooth painting style and also an impasto style to help achieve tension within the painting.
