An evening stroll with mans best friend

I was out on the fells, it was a beautiful evening and time seemed to escape me. One moment there was a lovely sunset and the next it was getting really very dark so I headed back to the car/ On the way a man and his dog were walking the fells. I did think I hope he was going to be alright because I could hardly see to put one foot in front of the other.

Needless to say, it was a scenario I need to paint. The sky still glowed and the setting sun was catching the tops of the grasses which made them glow iridescently, which I wanted to capture in my painting.

I chose the long format of the landscape canvas to help accentuate the vastness of the fells, and the man and his dog getting almost lost In the darkness.
