A salve is essentially something you apply to your skin to heal it. Salves can be a cream, ointment or balm.
However salves have a softer consistency, they can penetrate the skin more deeply. This makes salves more ideal for healing wounds, skin conditions and muscle and joint problems.

Salves are made out of waxes and oils to make a material that is semi-solid. Salves stay thick and stable because they usually don’t contain any liquid unless a tiny tincture is added. 

Some oils that might be in a salve include sweet almonds, coconut, sunflower, apricot, and olive oil. Each oil has various properties that make the salve unique.

Plant fats are used also used these could be Shae Butter, Mango Butter, Coconut oil contains saturated fats that help keep the skin moist, while apricot oil can have anti-inflammatory properties. 

Animal fats used to be found in salves, and we are seeing more animal oils today which are also referred to as “tallow”.

Beeswax is another commonly used wax to bind salves together. You might also see salves with waxes like carnauba and candelilla. 

Herbs, herbal extracts, essential oils
Herbs have been well used for thousands maybe even millions of years, and have amazing healing properties for the Body, Mind and Spirit.

In the old times, the Celts used something called the wheel of the year. It’s a bit like our season calendar we know today. Anyways on the wheel of the year, there are eight celebrations. Goddesses are also associated with these celebrations and have herbs, fruit, months, jobs, planets and star signs associated with them.
We’ve used this knowledge and combined it with the ancient use of herbalism and the more modern aromatherapies to formulate this amazing range of salves

We never use cheap fillers, preservatives, parabens, mineral oil, paraffin, petrolatum, artificial colours or animal ingredients in our products.  Our products are based on traditional remedies that harness the power of herbs making the most from the volatile oils and the aromas, bringing harmony and healing to the Body Mind and Spirit

Here at HarKeTae Green, we would love to cater for vegans and vegetarians. So we label our products; Suitable for Vegetarians or Suitable for Vegans.
We use a lot of Bees Wax ethically sourced from the UK, if the product has Beeswax in then it will be marked as Vegetarian – for some Vegans using Beeswax is not a problem so please check the ingredients to soo if the product is suitable for you to use.

At present Harketae Green do not use any Tallow in our products. However, if we do it will be clearly marked “Contains Tallow”
