About the painting
Seahouses is always really busy and but on this day, there were not very many people around. It was a lovely day and this person was sitting alone, as shown in this painting. But a lot of thoughts went through my head. Who were they with? Where are they now? as I can’t see anyone around.
Perhaps they are there to remember someone passing and have left space for them to sit. Or maybe, they are just enjoying the peace and quiet of their own thoughts.
Seahouses is a beautiful place, the sand is so soft, and you can see for miles and miles. So I used a wide-scale canvas to allow for the expanse of the shoreline. So I kept the figure small to figuratively show the person thoughts.
The painting is very illustrative and tells a story that the viewer can engage with and perhaps put their own interpretation on.

Needless to say, the scene captured my imagination. I wanted to portray the person in the landscape rather than the landscape around the person.
